Joshua Kerrigan on Drinking and Boating

By now, most people know that they shouldn't drink large amounts of alcohol and then slip behind the wheel of a car. Public service announcements have long linked drinking and driving to deaths and arrests, and as a result, most people know that they'll endure some sort of consequence if they mix alcohol and automobiles. These same people might feel no fear about mixing alcohol and boating, however, and that's something Joshua Kerrigan would like to change.

For most of his life, Joshua Kerrigan has been an avid boater. He enjoys using his boat recreationally, and he also owns a successful Florida business in which he both pilots and cares for yachts owned by others. He's a passionate supporter of all things relating to boating, and when he sees people drinking on the water, he finds that upsetting. Drunk people don't make good sailors, as their reflexes are impaired and their judgment skills are poor. When Joshua Kerrigan is on the water near these drunk boaters, he worries that he'll be injured due to their negligence. He also worries that the reputation of boaters everywhere will be marred, due to the actions of a vocal minority.

Joshua Kerrigan often reminds his clients that they shouldn't drink while on the water. The clubhouse often has many tasty drinks people can sip when they're back on land, but while they're on the water, sobriety should be the rule. People who think this might spoil the fun of a day on the water should consider hiring the services of a captain for a day, Joshua Kerrigan says. This way, they'll be able to enjoy their drinks without worrying that they'll be arrested or in an accident in the process.
